birds fluttering
awaken my essence
goodbye to the depths
where i had lain
a bright full moon
is calling for my presence
i resurrect

Spooky response to the prompt, and so well-written. A revenant perhaps?! Yikes!

Glad you enjoyed the story. I appreciate the praise. In a way, it is a return from the dead. I imagine depression is a lot like that.

Having suffered through post-partim depression, I can’t think of a better analogy.

Wow Susi. This is like a Werewolf becoming human in the moonlight. Love it. Well done.

Such a beautiful poem Susi. There are darker tones about resurrection from lying in the dark. A wonderful piece. Thanks for joining in.

Interesting in that the bridge seems to cross over nothing.

Yes, I saw it as empty, but still a continuation of the cycle of living.

I love this entire piece starting with the surprising pairing of the image with the title – there’s a wonderful Edna St. Vincent Millay poem by that name, and I’ve loved the word ever since. You’ve captured so much in far fewer lines! 🌕

Thank you for letting me know about the poem, Sun! I just learned the word today and also fell in love with it. Plus it paired well with the feeling of this piece. I’m glad you enjoyed it! <3
