everyone i know owns disqualifiers
i love them anyway
because i’m human
so are they
what distinguishes
those i keep and those who become disposable
a willingness to examine their faults
cherish those
who spew only truth
make peace and move on

The inevitable sifting of friendships – at least the criteria is clear. I’m with you that I’d rather have a flawed but self-aware friend rather than the blind or worse pompous friend… You poem lays it out beautifully!

Susi, this piece is so real. I love how it honors those who face their flaws and speak truth. 💙
