Its broad, dark wings supported the most unfathomable demons and rippled terror, like electricity, down my spine. Cunning flickered in those red eyes, signaling an ill omen in the day’s gloaming. My torch flames wildly flickering seemed to sense my despair, knowing my end was near in the shadows and this ungodly heat.

Preparing myself for the foretold battle, I locked my wide-spread legs to give me the best chance against this horrific beast from hell. The sweat on my brow seared my eyes as it flowed down my face. I would face my death honorably, having saved my people.
