Redux
Drink up, have fun, enjoy! Woohoo!
But where’s the life when the party is killing you?
The music’s loud, the friends are funnier, and the strangers even friendlier.
A false sense of bliss down the path of minds blown and bodies wasted.
Life is grand!
Til the next day.
Bold plans spawned, confidence bolstered, unstoppable!
Reality check – the greatness is slowly wasting away inside.

This is so true! After a life on a storm-tossed ocean I am at safe harbour and living a life of quiet contentment. ❌❤️❌

“But where’s the life when the party is killing you?”
I love this line, Susi. Having lived with an alcoholic (ex-husband)
and a heroin addict (my deceased son) this particularly poignant. Nowadays, my life is like being anchored in a safe harbour after a life on a storm-tossed ocean. I am happy and content. ❌❤️❌

I’m happy to hear that you are experiencing happiness and contentedness. But sorry for the loss of your son. My father, stepfather and first husband were alcoholics. Pretty unpredictable life for me until my thirties. Glad they are in the past. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Carolyn. <3

My ex-husband is an alcoholic and was violent under the influence of drink. I don’t think they ever realise how destructive their behaviour is towards their wives and families. It is coming into October, when I always feel a little sad as it contains both my son’s birthday and death day. I have my cats now and peace of mind. ❌❤️❌

((hugs)) Sorry you had to go through that, Carolyn. You’re right, they don’t realize how this impacts the family. I’m glad for you that you feel you have some peace of mind now.

Yes, indeed. I’ve seen a lot of that self-destruction in my lifetime growing up around alcoholics as well as my own antics. Thanks, Val!
