The Dance We Do

an atmosphere heavy with delight
long, slow dances
passionate embraces
kisses lasting for days
never-ending charm
a connection worth fighting for

alters over time
and circumstance

too many distractions
too many annoyances
too many broken promises

further cracks
until there’s nothing left

to fight about
when the memories of love
weren’t ever permanent
and present sorrow bound up
in yesteryears love
goes in the direction
of letting it all go

These words were inspired by a posting a while back by John Coyote . Thanks!

  1. This is truly a masterpiece, Dear Susi!!! Wow! Such a journey of the circle of love so beautifully painted with your words!!! Especially loved your lines – “passionate embraces, kisses lasting for days”!! Ahh, the passions of young love and youth! So, sad that time and life wears away at the physical affections like the wind and waves remake the shoreline. Even if love is strong and survives we still yearn for the Springtime of Love!!
John’s words are definitely inspiring, to be sure! He has left a few seeds of inspiration for me that have blossomed into poem!!! Perhaps, you may want to spotlight him on The Go Dog Go Cafes free event – Promote A Poet/Writer Thursdays. It’s a really great way to thank someone that inspired you? Just a thought? Ha! Bellissimo, Dear Susi, Bellissimo!! Please consider this a contender for “Susi’s Best Of Book”!
