Inspired by Reena’s Exploration Challenge #212 – It’s new… does it mean it’s welcome?
& Eugenia’s Weekly Prompt – Chapter

another year
another chapter
it’s new… does it mean it’s welcome

… only if it brings us something better
what does better even mean
seems insurmountable

the division, the animosity, the inhumanity
politics, people, our ever-deteriorating climate
it’s not new… but some positive change would be welcome

Snow And Flakes

wacky, cool weirdness
awesome, unconventional
like only one kind

Oh my…

He could be worth the trouble.

The Weakest Links

I
kinda
loathe abject
stupidity.
The kind where foolish doesn’t know it’s foolish.
Mainly when they double down on the dumb.
A blemish on
the gene pool
weakens
Life.

Our Humanity

Inspired by Eugenia’s Weekly Prompt – Peace & Reena’s Exploration Challenge #201

who would have thought
being a stranger in a very strange land
looking for better opportunities, peace
and respite from the atrocities of war
would mean a continued fight against another’s bigotry

it hurts this humanist’s heart

Reblogs – Murray Robertson & Frank Solanki

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed pulling from my collection of read poetry that is recent and from further back to share with you. It’s remarkable to me how they somehow line up to share similar concepts or emotions, or maybe it’s me reading that into them? What do you think?

Sheltered by Murray Robertson

shaded, underneath
   taller plants
sheltered from
      such storms

as may arise,
   we should
   have such
      fortune:

   friends in
high places,
as we never
      imagined.

we can always
   consider
how beautiful:
      humility

   we can also
      consider
  just what
   we should be

I Am Not A Bad Person by Frank Solanki

I am not a bad person
Just covered in pile of dirt
Layers and layers and layers
Layers of pain and hurt
Look at me closely though
Through the dark of skin
A treasure chest of love
You shall find within

We are our own worst enemies, right?

how often do we forgive
the transgressions of others
before we forgive the ones
we commit against ourselves

Wordle #484

Would the stories in pictures on the wall touch upon the black secrets of Harroway Hall? I think not. But I’m sure random flies and their narrow view at small parties would probably elicit very hushed yet profound tales of those gathered. I would throw money down that I was correct. But first, fresh country air was calling.

Hold my jacket, James,” realizing it would be getting warmer. “Hopefully, she is better at following my lead this morning after yesterday’s disastrous ride.

“Yes, sir. The wire you made me tape onto the whip should provide you the results you want.

So much truth in this statement. But don’t let that change you. Just be aware.

Put On

Inspired by Reena’s Exploration Challenge #150 – Illusions

in our private world
free to be

but in public
we disguise ourselves

masks worn
don’t reflect actuality

hidden behind facades
in plain sight

reality is best served
with illusions

people don’t have patience
for the truth

or we don’t have the time
to speak it

to callous beings
wearing their own screen
