only the best of you
an enhanced illusion, a public facade
or maybe self-preservation in the face of reality
respect is given and expected
a demonstration of existence displayed
but it belies the true nature of your essence
one that is flawed and human
your actions may line up with your words
and your deeds be filled with compassion
but real freedom is not experienced
nor a true ease in your skin is felt

Drink up, have fun, enjoy! Woohoo!
But where’s the life when the party is killing you?
The music’s loud, the friends are funnier, and the strangers even friendlier.
A false sense of bliss down the path of minds blown and bodies wasted.
Life is grand!
Til the next day.
Bold plans spawned, confidence bolstered, unstoppable!
Reality check – the greatness is slowly wasting away inside.

Life seems to be finding the balance in the extremes or learning to move forward when perhaps standing still is where we are more comfortable. What a journey it is!

life becomes more than survival
