i’m bathed in darkness
for your absence creates it
sorrow my only companion
look for the shining candle
that is my glowing heart
hopeful for your return
Reality Is A Way Of Life
being in this physical realm
trying to achieve an extraordinary existence
not only to survive, but to thrive, and hopefully enjoy
yet what happens when nature dictates the next steps
how do we move forward
how do we address the necessary
and remain sane
these external forces unsettle us, can even unhinge us
consciousness, intellect, and reasonable emotions
grant us the ability to improve our situations
gaining knowledge is our sword to defeat that which can harm us
as we decide how to best cope with the onslaught
living is not an easy task
be aware and have courage
right the wrongs
protect the innocents among us
enjoin your community to protect the whole

Many years passed before I understood what loving someone meant to me. Having been shaped by two people (and most likely – no, definitely – the third in my immediate family, too), it took the birth of my first child to understand this most basic lesson I should have been privy to during my formative years. Once understood, I was committed to being the kind of person who also deserved love.
