Self-respect

I am not a failure, ever.

what we see is just the shell
the miracle of you
lays dormant

you grow with confidence
but only by deciding
what’s true for you

may you have nurturers
surrounding you
loving you whole

and may you become
who you are capable of being
sharing the greatness within

young and confident
strutting out in the sunshine
showing how it’s done

just short
of my destruction

all encounters
have earned
my compassion

but no one
deserves
to end me

with unabashed intent
i go forward
towards my end game

smile more, bitch say they
who have no ambition
or who settle for a simple existence

it’s more than just survival
thriving in an unmoved world
takes focused energy and effort

getting what i want
presents a good look
showing it in my stride

living by my design
guarantees me joy
and confidence

who doesn’t want a life like that?
