Further Ponderings

Have you ever read someone else’s work and left a comment on what you read, then realized that the comment in and of itself required deeper pondering? And then the additional pondering produced another piece of poetry?

Well, that exact scenario recently happened when I was fortunate enough to read two pieces: Ken Gierke’s “Without, as within,” and VJ Knutson’s “The Magic of Poetry.” And on the same day! I loved their thoughts, and they inspired me further. Every opportunity to think a bit more in-depth and reevaluate settled thoughts is one of the best parts of being a poet/writer.

inspiration
leads to emotions
then leads to truths

the cycle of life
twisting and turning
up and down

life happens to us,
but is experienced within
providing a constant dance between the two

  2. I think your experience here and mine with what I read is the same!!! All of a sudden a word, phrase or title sparks you off in a new and different pathway. What you read turns out to be a gem/seed of inspiration for a brand new work!!!

    I guess this is the reason all the great writers advice says, Read, Read, Read so you can write, write, write!!!! I call it Gleaning. Finding what has been left behind for you to find and use in a new way. (Story of Ruth in the Bible – following along behind the harvesters and finding what they missed).
