Timeless Beauty

Gazing at her outline in the mirror, I remarked to myself how stunning she was. Maria leaned closer to it, her breath steaming it as she addressed the crow‘s feet with makeup. She doesn’t notice how the shadows of years gone by want me to gaze at her harder. Even if I looked at her through rose-colored glasses, I wouldn’t call her old. Maria may be on the edge of becoming like an annoying splinter in someone’s side, but her grace flowed like honey when she wanted it to. Like a kidney stone ache, ghosts moaned a warning to me.
