I’m interrupting my hiatus to make an important announcement. One of my dearest friends needs our help, love, and support! Many of you know her through the features on The Short of It and the reblogs I’ve done of her work. She is an amazing writer, poet, and friend—and not just to me!

I knew Candy was ill before my hiatus, but I only recently discovered how desperately sick she had become. She doesn’t live close, and with me being away physically, there is not much I can do from here. But I have a blog, I have a voice, I have readers, and Candy has me as an advocate and support person.

The basics are that Candy has something known as Gastric Arrhythmia. It was brought on by a virus in 2017, and she has been dealing with it ever since. The first bout was the worst but had been manageable until this recent episode. She has not been able to work for the last couple of months and is agonizingly nauseous and unable to eat much to keep up her strength. The Mayo Clinic has accepted her case, and she is scheduled to be seen in August, but she needs help with the financing for travel and medical expenses, and the funds to manage her current living expenses.

I’m asking all those who do take the time to get to know the situation to please help. Candy needs us right now!
