Landscape
above low-lying mist
ridge inked with blue-black shadow
naked oak and ash
stretch above blank landscape
in strong, charcoal strokes
Old
tales of trees
memories shrouded by moss
ancient truths pierced by deep roots
new buds unfold
mysteries from before
Boundary
tree stands bare
stark against green shade
guardian, sentinel;
is it keeping me out
or drawing me in?
Wind
uneasy animal
haunting, howling,
crying, moaning,
always disturbed,
always restless
Words
let loose beneath winter skies
float freely away
release negativity
clarify thoughts
Eye
behind latticework of budding branches
embered glow of solitary eye
sets pale sky aflame
Flower
tangerine explosion
unexpected yet always long-awaited;
multi-headed flower blooms
