our life journeys mimic the paths
that water carves into the earth
we can go from turbulent to calm
from tranquil to rushing
and from gushing to trickling
as we forge our signatures into this world
life can sting with such force
we hope we recover from the falls
and the quick rush of the disastrous floods
to maybe drift into calmer rivers
or stable lakes
we’re always flowing in a new path
with each ebb and flow or wave crashing down
we beg for the soothing of envelopment
and the cleansing of the daily grime

I really like the metaphor in this poem. There are some floods I can do without, but the odd rapid keeps life interesting.
