The rising mist wrapped around me like a belt; it felt comforting, like a blanket. It reminded me of the summer spent at my aunt’s house, the creek down the road where my cousin and I would spend gobs of time horsing around, carefree and wild.
My still and focused dog was near me as I finished changing the filters in the pool. He was like a stoic sentinel observing the forest behind our house, watching the shadows appear as the sky’s light began to dim. A lone crow rose, capturing his curiosity; he ran towards it breaking his stance.

This is so good!

I’ve done that – paused mid task to reminisce triggered by some movement or dust mote before coming back to the present with the aura of the past still hovering above me…. Lovely write!
