being alive
forces us to survive
but surviving isn’t living
our days on this earth
will be filled with some shit
but we must rise above
acceptance of our reality
lessens the blows
cools the struggles
joy and comfort
are still to be found
in heaps all around
one foot in front of the other
maintaining balance
homeostasis can be achieved
I wish I could recall what post inspired these thoughts, but I can’t! I do know that it was in response to something Eugenia said. Maybe she remembers? 🙂
Gotta love the shit we go through so we can fall in love with the good days

Hmm, I can’t pinpoint what post may have inspired your poem. What comes to mind is I often refer to my mom’s favorite saying “rise up above it” and some of my poems suggest taking life one step at a time to achieve balance. Thank you for the mention, Susi. 💖

It was within the last couple of weeks, but I couldn’t remember which one. Yes, definitely “rising above it” means to me you get a better perspective and are more calm. ❤

Things are never so bad that they can’t get worse. Remember this when you feel like complaining!

lol That is true!! This is where acceptance of reality continues to make that thought process the more acceptable one. 🙂
