Inspired by Moonwashed Weekly Prompt – Celestial &
Reena’s Exploration Challenge #254 – Politico
every year, the same spiels
the politico aiming for celestial status
trying to come off better than the opponents
while smearing the other for their lead
showing support for those they disdain
those they allegedly will stand for
knowing they can’t win without them
vilely begging for votes
and trading favors for money
the ill-gotten gains
mean more to them than actual representation
will it ever change?
Hardly but let’s hope.

I try to be optimistic because I’m seeing positive signs around me. But we’ll see soon enough.

I was hooked by the image first ☺️ The poem is realistic and brilliant as usual.

Wonderful and thoughtful musing on the state of politics. The answer is always the same – we hope things improve but still vote for the same bad actors!

And this is the reason I’m a titch more hopeful, I see hard work being done in electing more compassionate representatives. We’ll know soon enough. Thanks, Val!

Excellent observations, Susi! How unfortunate that those in politics think only of themselves. I often wonder if they understand why they were elected and that is to represent citizens and the betterment of life for all.

I think so do but obviously there are a lot who are more about enriching themselves than doing their jobs. And those are the ones who’ve forgotten it’ supposed to be about “public service.” Thank you, Eugenia!

I visited Mt Rushmore for the first time last week. Though the work the chiselers and sculptors put into it (and so many died doing so) I found to be astounding; the most beautiful and ongoing mountain relief and story is not far from there; the relief of an imagined likeness of Chief Crazy Horse mounted on his stead. That was moving as is his story. 🏔

Very cool! Yeah, it was in the 70s when my family visited and I remember the Crazy Horse Memorial was being talked about. I can’t believe that it’s still not done! Thanks, Gypsie-Ami!

It’s financed by individual donations only. Unlike Rushmore that was financed by Government funding. Such is the way when it comes to Indian affairs. 😞

Gotcha. Yeah, then I understand. But hopefully, with this administration, as they seem more inclusive towards the Indian Nations, that might get an injection of some cash.

I doubt a donation from the U.S. Government would ever be accepted. Memories of previously given gifts received and then taken away are still fresh in the minds of our Indigenous Nation’s people.

And I can understand that. The history of relations with the Indian Nations has been horrible. I remember when I was a teenager and watching a movie called “Soldier Blue,” I was so angered after I learned more about that story as well as other things not taught in our school.
