shielded by the dark
the frost turns to hard, clear ice
longing for some warmth
Bartholomew Barker inspired this piece from me with his prompt on Living Poetry – Monday Poetry Prompt: Dark, Frost, Long on December 20, 2021 While his image would lead you to think about Winter, my mind went in a different direction. What does it bring up for you?
Reblogged this on The Reluctant Poet.

Wonderful take on an unusual image, Susi! Looking up to the sky one expects to find the warm sun or a pale moon but not a black heart.

Well, this time the words came first and I found it hard to find the right image, but I clicked with this one! Glad you enjoyed the poem, Eugenia!

I like that the ice longs to melt – so too the frozen heart! I like that perspective!

Staying cold too long is uncomfortable. Glad you liked it, Val! 🙂

Could feel the words. I too am with the weather everyday turning dark. Oh when will the spring winds arrive.
