Inspired by Reena’s Exploration Challenge #202 – Languish & Eugenia’s Weekly Prompt – Autumn
the leaves of autumn
languish on the forest trails
i breathe in the moist fragrance of an october rain
deep into my lungs
what was once green foliage
lush, vibrant and full
now becomes a new carpet for the forest
another layer to add to its history
i sigh heavily and gnash my teeth
for the leaves falling and bare tree branches
signal that summer has unfortunately come to an end
and an awful realization my SADD will soon begin again
Well written

Fall is my favorite time of the year and my spirits are always on a high. I love your lines

Even if history is not visible it still exists. Brava, Susi!

Time to get the lamp out and start taking my Vit D and calcium pills…. The grey skies of winter will be upon us all too soon (at least in Northern Indiana). Love this one – it tells it like it is.

Same, same. Thanks, Val! This is why I wished somewhere warm and sunny. 🙂

Another layer to add to its history ….is evocative.
Finding 6 words in one is also great 😇 Thanks!

Beautifully written and I love the descriptive lines and also understand SADD. That is why we finally moved from Seattle. Not fun. It actually rained or more like a drizzle for ninety straight days and no sun. It was a record. We don’t have that in NC. Hugs and love ❤️ Joni

My ex-husband lived there for a few months. He said the same thing. Yeah, it definitely wouldn’t be the place for me. NC is beautiful! My mom used to live in Ashville. Thanks, Joni! ❤

You know I think that we may have talked about this in our interview about your mom living in Asheville. My pleasure Susi. Sending hugs 🤗 Joni

It’s emotive. A different angle to view Fall.

Oh, no, do you deal with it too, Carrie?

I don’t deal with SAD(D), but here due to the change in general climate, trees and plants are doing strange thing. Last Autumn the orange leaves didn’t last long. They went bare quickly.

I’m glad. While it’s not debilitating for me, I’ve known others over the years which were impacted dramatically, it is just something I know I have to manage to not get sucked down into. Yeah, I’ve noticed changes in our area as well. Climate change is real, even if some people continue to deny it. Thanks for stopping by, Carrie!
