The Feathered Sleep

My days of corpulent debauchery

may never have begun

but when I close my eyes

I lie inside of you like an opal

reflecting your urge for living

like a night light needful of no power source

you radiate energy as

a feral creature might fight

for its life caught in snare

the abundance of your desire

fills my emptiness with electric skies

your skin holds the damp of sex like a flower

urging me to break free of fear

consume your longing with my own

the meeting of our bodies breaking against

each other with the force of pent hunger

just one smile and I am on my knees

thirsting for your power over me

there is nothing I wouldn’t offer

even the pulsing vein in my neck

to subsist in your magnetism

where suddenly, life itself seems alive

and I can hear every cricket

every night creature stirring

the movement of you

toward me

and how I am terrified

and run through with

simultaneous

want
