your words
sealed away
yet surrounding me
i face the fear
of their accusations
examine them diligently
realizing that growth
was stunted by harsh admonitions
borne in my youth
it was time to heal
and move on
in order for love to remain

I always marvel at the power of words, sometimes casually uttered, to affect our viewpoints and our future. Well written.

Deep. We do have to let go of some of those old letters no matter how priceless they sometimes feel.

Hurtful words or harsh judgmental ones are the hardest to forget. The wounds heal but the scars are always a reminder. Thanks Susi for joining in with your insightful poem.

Good one. Amazing the voices that still ring in our heads.

Dysfunction is the hardest thing to overcome, IMO. Harder starts of life tend to produce harder lives.
