you lay there seductively
absently sliding your hands
along the crescents of flesh
my eyes following the outline
your coquettish movements
direct my focus
begging an imminent need
you’ve got my full attention, dear
presented like an item of food
needing sampled, tasted
fully devoured and consumed
but not too quickly
savored and relished
your form molded
around my tongue
bringing ecstasy to us both
we delight and feast tonight
for our tomorrows might be famine
such is the world
bestowed upon us
What a lot of comments! And you answer each one. Of course, presenting a lover as a delectable course might not quite be approved by some feminist art critiques, but I suppose more diverse-minded feminists would love it.

Yes, I always try to comment unless it gets stuck on WP then it may take me a bit to get back to it. I guess I would turn it around and say it could also apply to a man being consumed. I’m not offended by the notion that a woman is being consumed by shadow. Your piece addresses carnal desire, and what’s wrong with that? 🙂

I wrote a story about a shadow consuming a woman. https://mmpmagicmodernizationproject.com/your-toes/

Perhaps if we looked at the possibility of famine we’d know to feast when the plate is before us. Thoughtful poem.

Great job of making us fill in the blanks! Too often explicit trumps suggestive – and we all know that the imagination will provide a richer image!

Glad you enjoyed it, Val! Explicit has its place but hints of what’s to come just like suggestive clothing can be just as sexy, I think.

Yes staying safe and healthy is actually the most important thing for the entire humankind right now. Everybody is okay here, though cases of COVID is still increasing everyday all over India. May we all be able to make through this crisis with strength and resilience.

Yes, as long as we continue to take care of each other.

This is the thing humans should care a lot about, ‘caring for each other’.

The ending is perfect. 👏👏 When I looked at the featured image I thought the title is ‘Combustible’ 😀 and that too was a fit…😁
Anyways…it was smooth piece…I’m taking away the expression ‘sliding
hands along the crescents of your flesh’… beautiful. 🤘👍🤘

I’d like to think the act does leave us all combustible, or? 😉 Happy you enjoyed it, Sundaram! Thank you for your praise.
