behold the artist’s fractured vision
a technique wholly proclaiming
a distorted perception
this gifted flair of expression
shows us their talent
and gives us a unique art form
we revel in being offered
this layered complexity in simple shapes
asserting visual depth and familiarity
mysteriously and abstractedly
leaving us to be intensely inspired
and exquisitely drawn in
This is a wonderful take

Susi you articulated the concepts so well here. I’m learning about cubism and this helps.

This is excellently penned, Susi and such a vivid description that the words literally jump out at me. Your words only reinforce for me why I have never been a big fan of cubism, You write about the artist’s fractured vision and distorted perception, and that articulates perfectly my view of cubism. Give me the classics like Michaelangelo or Constable over Picasso anytime. Despite my extreme prejudices on cubism I still really enjoyed your poem.

Thank you so much, Len! I’m glad that it touched you so and resonated. Although I am a big fan of the artists who can clearly create distinct art which captures life, unique art also stirs me to understand an artist’s vision. Sometimes the more striking and odd, it may even become a favorite of mine! 🙂
