Last year, I spent the majority of my time crafting short reads of poetry and writing. In addition, I had the opportunity to learn a lot more about online publishing. I also enjoyed the concise and succinct writing of others. This got me brainstorming for what to do in 2020. Where it led me to was to create this new project – The Short of It.
There are so many talented writers out there whose work packs an exquisite punch. They have a talent for expressing themselves using a limited amount of syllables or sentences and I’d like to be the person who will showcase their work! Some of those I’ve read don’t enjoy a large following yet but their words speak volumes. I’d like to attract and entice everyone who can create in that vein. Hopefully, the word spreads beyond just my readership. Please feel free to spread the word. Sharing is caring as they say!
Periodically, I will be asking for submissions of poetry and writing that embody what I’ve described above in the banner. I hope to receive many submissions which will eventually lead to online, possibly print, publication. That’s the goal but I’ll need your help!
If you are interested in participating or know someone who fits the bill, please click here to be taken to The Short of It page for more information on how to submit your work. I look forward to seeing the creations!!! 🙂
Here’s to much success for us all!
What a wonderful and generous idea!

Love it! Are you looking for any specific themes (similar to Pure Haiku —which I realized today I totally missed the latest deadline) or is it anything goes?

Yep, anything goes with the exception that I’d like work to be 150 words or less, whether poetry or writing.
Oh, no, you missed the deadline?!? I was so looking forward to your pieces!

Yep. And I’m not happy with myself. I would have loved to immerse my mind in translucence. I’ve just had a couple of weird and busy months. Plus the status of the world has been weighing heavy on my mind and heart. I know getting back to writing will help so thanks for the kick. I’m in. 😎

Well, luckily she will have more! I will tell you though, at least for me, this was a hard one. I hope I did the word justice.
Yeah, agreed, especially as I sit here watching the impeachment trial.
I look forward to seeing more of your work. You’ve been missed! ❤

Hum, haven’t been writing as much lately. Being that my poetry tends to be the outlet I use for down moments. But perchance I am inspired. I’ll send a haiku your way.

I hope so! If you decide to, the minimum is 3 pieces, Matt.

Interesting idea, Susi – my kind of thing for sure! I’ve just had a 100 plus of my lines and poems taken up by an indie publisher – ‘ Shorts – A Take On Poetry’ will be out this year – but I’ve more – I’ll send some to you! All the best. Eric.

Thanks, Eric and congratulations on your poems being accepted! I look forward to hearing more about that as well as your submissions here. 🙂

Will you be modeling this similar to your challenge? I ask because I tend to put my “creativity” on a shelf unless I’m motivated otherwise. 🙂

Not as a recap at the end of a week. When submissions are accepted, they will be posted as well as become eligible to be printed in an anthology.
