Deluge

land decimated
nature’s forces so brutal
scared people fleeing

The first thought in my head in response to this prompt is the havoc nature is playing with us in multiple states in the USA. I happen to live in Kansas where this season we have endured endless rain, severe flooding and thunderstorms, a few tornado watches and an actual warning of one approaching our area. Unfortunately, those turned devastating elsewhere in the state. Luckily, my family and friends haven’t been terribly affected, but some were not so fortunate. Nature can be so damn beautiful and expressive, then ravage you in an instant.

  1. I am originally from the Midwest (Belton, MO) and now live in Montana. I’m not sure which scares me more, tornadoes or earthquakes and wildfires. Please be safe during this storm season and remember to not drive through water over the roads. I loved your Haiku.

  2. The worst part about natural disasters is we don’t know what have we done to deserve it. War is more understandable.

We are entering the monsoon season here, which is a welcome relief to start with. Then, Bombay never knows what to expect – flooding, traffic jams, old bridges giving away….

  3. Mother Nature doesn’t pick and chose a time or place. Seems we just have to step aside in wonder about her capabilities. We have no choice. We marvel at her beauty and weep at rage as you have so poetically depicted.
Take good care my friend. A very powerful write Susi. ❀

  4. Our weather has been brutal here, too. Tornado watches three days in a row, with one already touching down not too far from us. Luckily, only a school was damaged, and minor injuries sustained. Your Haiku speaks volumes, Susi. ❀

On a side note, did you know the name of your blog doesn't come up when I get the email for you? It only says WordPress.com 😦 I Write Her used to show.
