Poem: Unintentional Destination

Woke up to good news this morning! Thanks to Onkar Sharma for selecting this piece for publication in Literary Yard!

Literary Yard

By Susi Bocks

this determined path
sometimes
leads to places
of not wanting to be
staying stuck even

my goals are far-reaching
and my ambition is strong
yet, i still find myself
at an unpredicted stop
life is devilish like that

this place i find myself
uncomfortable and draining
yet, oddly familiar
history repeating itself
me, beating myself now

it takes my reserves
devours them whole
leaves me gasping for breath
and power
feeling defeated

my past, my pain
caught up again
the choice of boldness
to do different, to live sane
opting to correct course now

Very thankful to Freya Pickard for showcasing this piece on Pure Haiku. It was a wonderful prompt which filled me with so many thoughts! I look forward to reading all the other writers pieces on the Emergence theme. 🙂

The Kiss

Untitled

the urge presented itself
in the most opportune moment
an unexpected pleasure
brought joy and chemistry
and a lingering fortune

a slick comfort
of trapped tongues
finding bliss and harmony
wet exchanges
of future promises

desires for fulfillment,
yours and mine,
the priority
on the to-do list
of this sensual journey
towards mutual satisfaction

a repeat expression
waiting for its turn
patience, a frustrating value
only eclipsed
by distance

sweetness will
be won again
desires satiated
by unending
fulfillment

Tick Tock

Susan Seddon Boulet – Ritual Mask

The onset of screams start the clock; the day begins.
Teachers prepare, school bells ring.
First crushes smile and give first kisses.
No longer a teenager.
First drinks flow legally.
Thoughts of settling down.
Decisions to start new clocks.
Realizations that life is half over.
Efforts for a secure retirement continues.
Probably watching your loves leave the nest.
Bones start to creak, hair turning grey.
The drudgery of the daily grind coming to an end.
Enjoying quality time with the fruits of your labor.
Leaving the progeny and/or friends with wisdom.
The last breath escaping signals death, stopping the clock.

What time is it for you?

So Proud

Untitled

life tasked me
with motherhood
my answer
an enthusiastic acceptance
to comply

my heart grew up
and bigger with him
my life turned upside down
lessons learned changed
my future self

such a man now
a decent one
not a little big boy
he’s leading the charge
on the rest of his life

his determination
replaces my worry
his success now leads him
the torch is passed
with relief and validation

so proud

When I make the effort
to dig deep
into who you are,
know you are loved.

In awe,
inspired,
captivated,
interested,
dazed,
uplifted.
Yes, in love with your being.

I’ll align myself
up close,
breathing in your talent
and exhaling
knowledge and pride.

You’ve won my heart.
